❓ What is HEIC, and why convert it to JPG?
HEIC (HEIF) is the default photo format iPhones have used since iOS 11. It stores photos at roughly half the size of JPG with better quality, but the tradeoff is compatibility — it often won't open on Windows PCs, older Android phones, or many websites. That's why people usually convert HEIC to JPG before moving iPhone photos to a computer or uploading them online.
