JPG and WebP shrink files by discarding color and detail information the eye barely notices (lossy compression). Lower quality means a smaller file but more visible loss, so 70–80% quality is usually the sweet spot between size and appearance. Shrinking the pixel dimensions as well reduces file size even further.

💾 Why does saving as JPG shrink the file more?
If your photo doesn't need a transparent background, saving as JPG or WebP instead of PNG is much better for file size. PNG is lossless, so photos saved as PNG tend to be large. Use Convert alongside this if you need to change format.
